History of Dana Point
Dana Point was a popular port for ships involved high trade, in nearby Mission San Juan Capistrano when high trade reached it's peak in 1830's and 1840's. In 1818, Argentine sailor Hippolyte de Bouchard anchored here while conducting his raid on the mission. Richard Henry Dana then visited the area in 1835, while servicing aboard the sailing brig Pilgrim on their voyage along the California Coastline. In 1926 Sidney H. Woodruff, Harry Chandler and General M.H. Sherman created Dana Point Syndicate and purchased 1,388 acres of land, some of which include "Headlands" of today. Woodruff built 35 homes and a number of commercial buildings. He uses are concentrated in Dana Point Historical core, also known as Lantern Village. The streets are named after different colored lanterns.

Dana Point is situated on the Southern California coastline. It's outdooor activities. Surfing, boating, and biking are just a few things to do in this city. It's habor is where you will find most of the locals and people from the surrounding cities. Dining at restaurants on the harbor and taking a walk around the harbor while watching the boats come in and go out of the harbor is done all year around.
